When Self Tan Meets Suncare

Get your best vacay glow before you even leave the UK

There’s nothing better than having a nice golden glow when you go on vacay, but stepping out in your kinis for the first time after winter can be a little daunting.

You’re contemplating a fake tan but don't want to end up streaky on holiday, however going au natural after a long winter in London is just as fearful.

It’s time to keep calm and keep reading because we have good news. We’re going to debunk the myths surrounding pre-holiday self tanning and explain why your self tan and suncare work better together.

First things first, don't be afraid to use a self tanner before you go on holidays. Despite what your girlfriends say, you won't go streaky in the pool, you will still come back from vacay with a tan and yes, you can (real) tan through a fake tan. Phew. Now we got that out of the way, let’s get vacay ready.

48-hours before departure: Prep for your self tan

The key to a good tan - beside an incredible self tanning product - is preparation. A flawless tan needs a flawless base babes, so get your exfoliating brush or gloves out and rid any dry skin goodbye.

Your self tan colour sits on the top layer of skin, so to ensure the best and longest tan possible you want your fake tan sitting on new skin. Not only will the product glide onto your skin smoother, but it will come off even too. There’s no time for patchy skin on vacay, right?

An ideal prep involves exfoliation, hair removal and hydration. Fake tan will often grab to dry areas of the skin, so a hydrated base is essential. A good dose of the Luxe Moisturising Lotion in the lead up will do just the trick.

24-hours before departure: Fake tan with Bali Body

It’s tan time! Once your base is clean and dry grab your Bali Body Self Tanning Mousse and Luxe Tanning Mitt and get to work.

Pump, glide and repeat until you’re a perfect shade of bronze. The colour guide technology in the self tan will lead you to a flawless finish. We recommend using long motions starting from the feet up.

#BBProTip: Apply self tan to your hands last with any residue product left on the mitt and rub it in well for an even texture.

12-hours before departure: Pack all your suncare essentials

Despite popular belief, a fake tan offers no protection from UVA or UVB rays. This means SPF is essential and a good sunscreen should be packed along with all your other suncare essentials.

Your self tan has given you a natural looking sun-kissed glow, but you’re going to need some hydrating tanning oils to get some (real) bronze on vacay too. Whether you’re a Natural Tanning & Body Oil babe or like our more fruity flavours in Watermelon and Pineapple, there is a BB tanning oil for everyone. All four of our famous tanning oils are now available in a SPF15, SPF6 and no SPF to suit every babes protection preference.

Out of office: VACAY TIME!

It’s now time to put your BB suncare to good use because self tan and suncare go hand in hand. All you have to do is continue to maintain your self tan with daily moisturisation while also using your suncare essentials to achieve your best bronzed tan yet.

Remember, self tan has no SPF so a friendly dose of SPF used alongside your fav tanning oil is the key to the perfect transition from faux bronze to real. Over the course of your vacay, your self tan will slowly fade as your real tan slowly increases.

Stock up for your next vacay with self tan and suncare here, because glowing bronze skin is an everyday thing!
